I create websites using X/HTML, CSS, jQuery and PHP. I can produce custom content management solutions (CMS) but for clients requiring a less intense (expensive!) solution but who still want to update their own content, or perhaps add a blog, I utilise WordPress as the CMS, creating bespoke themes (the underlying website template) tailored to the needs of each individual website.
I also design posters, flyers, brochures and other print promotional literature.
Once the client has provided me with a detailed brief, including as much information as possible as to the final content, I will produce a wire-frame (usually a hand-drawn outline) of the website showing all the elements and how I envisage them being placed. This helps the client to visualise the website and assess whether anything is missing before I proceed to a more detailed mock-up. Once the wireframe has been agreed I produce a graphical mock-up and once finalised with the client, use this to produce the final coded website.
I think it is crucial to keep the client informed and up to date on progress, and I aim to respond promptly to any queries or questions the client may pose, at any time through the process.
I came fairly late to interactive design having left the Post Office after 11 years in the sorting office, to train in something more creative. I spend my non-work time hanging out with my partner and kids, baking bread and playing guitar - my next project is to construct the cigar box guitar kit I got as a Christmas present (wish me luck - I'm handier with a mouse than I am a toolbox…).
If you like what you see please get in touch by filling in the postcard at the bottom of this page. Better still send me a real postcard (Lord knows the PO needs the business) but you'll still need to fill the digital one in order to ask for my address.
I gave Russell a vague idea and he gave me a brilliant, living, breathing website.
